Sally Shepard — a woman engineer

2024 marks the retirement of one of Exponent’s formative leaders — and a woman engineer. Sally Shepard, Chief Human Resources Officer, joined Exponent in 1981 just prior to earning her mechanical engineering degree from Stanford University in 1982. Early in her career, Sally held a variety of roles with Exponent, ranging from Managing Engineer to Director of Human Resources and IT to Vice President of Human Resources. During a 15-year hiatus from Exponent, she held leadership roles in human resources for a variety of software companies. However, she returned to her roots at Exponent in 2014, where she has amassed nearly 30 years of service in total. In addition to her impact as an engineer, Sally has supported the hiring and career development of countless professionals, including the many women scientists and engineers we proudly celebrate this International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
